Golden Plover
The soundtrack of so many of my walks across the Yorkshire Dales has been the unmistakable peep-peep of the golden plover. In the Summer months they return to the uplands to breed, their striking plumage transformed into rich gold above with a bold black face and belly edged in crisp white - a beautiful thing to behold in the moorland landscape.
This 'little joy' places a golden plover on a map of the Yorkshire Dales and is a small tribute to one of the true voices of the uplands.
