This painting was inspired by a boat trip off the East coast of England to watch gannets feeding at sea. Watching them enter the water like tornados to catch their prey is one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles I have seen and the noise they make is incredible. Often the birds would fight over a fish like I have depicted in this painting.
