Having walked many times in the Carneddau mountains over the years I am very familiar with these beautiful ponies which roam wild and free in the Carneddau mountains of Snowdonia.
The photo reference for this painting was taken on a walk in the Carneddau when this beautiful pony appeared from over the brow of a hill and walked straight towards us. It rekindles fond memories of that day.
