If you've ever watched a kingfisher diving you'll know how amazingly quickly they do it. They are such beautiful birds and I remember the first time I saw one years ago being surprised at how small they are. I've been lucky enough to have one dive right in front of me while I was swimming in a local lake last year, a beautiful thing to witness. I don't think the bird saw me as a threat as I was in the water.
